Just wanted to update friends and supporters that I’m back at my longtime public affairs firm, Issue Management, Inc.
As you may know, over the last year I had the honor to do a quick tour of duty on Capitol Hill as Chief of Staff to Rep. Steve King of Iowa. Steve has been my friend and ally for 18 years now. I was proud to step in to serve him and the people of my home state of Iowa.
We had some remarkable successes in my short time there. I helped him raise about $500,000 in contributions of various kinds, which is not much by leadership standards, but a lot by Iowa standards. After the likes of Stu Rothenberg raised questions about his reelection prospects, the Congressman won reelection by a towering 24 points. Under the Congressman’s leadership, I helped organize the Conservative Opportunity Society (COS), a group of House Members started by Newt Gingrich and his allies in the 1990s. And working with Dave Bossie and the other patriots at Citizens United, we pulled off the Iowa Freedom Summit, where about a dozen potential 2016 presidential candidates gathered to present their views to Iowa conservatives.
All good things must come to an end, though. I saw an opportunity to work in the 2016 fight myself, and took it. Behind the scenes I returned to IMI, where my clients have included most notably the largest group of superPACs supporting Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Tex. I’m also working to fight the global Islamic jihad – with ideas – working with a conservative national security think tank. And I’m allied with a couple of vendors I believe in as well.
Finally, as again my allies may be aware, my advocacy tech startup BlastRoots, Inc. announced it had closed the sale of its core technology to BIS Global, the creator of CharityEngine®. For all who worked with me during this amazing project, thank you for all you did to “Start Something” by bringing professional-level advocacy tools to citizen activists.
The bottom line is that I’m open for business again – this time, with fresh relationships and experience on the Hill and in Iowa, especially with what I lovingly call the Vast Right Wing Conspiracy.
Please let me know if there is some way you’d like to work with me. I’d look forward to strategizing with you.
